Special Master/Referee
At this time all dispute resolution services are done using a robust video-conferencing protocol.
Often civil litigation becomes mired in pre-trial disputes that are burdensome to the parties and to the judge. In such cases a judge may order the appointment of a special master (federal court cases) or referee (Wisconsin state court cases) to resolve certain specified matters for the parties in a fair and efficient matter.
In serving as special master or referee I have been able to expedite the process by ruling on discovery disputes including issues of document and email-production, privileged communications and trade secrets.
As of mid-March, 2020 all such matters are being done by video-hearing using the Zoom Video platform or another service of the parties’ choice.
